Does it work? Within the criteria of the design, yes, (see below). I find the quoted sizes are ALWAYS flattering – usually the size up from the one measured is more comfortable and therefore gets used, rather than left in a drawer.

THM Verdict: I know there are many conflicting opinions about the worth of low back belts and supports. I can only say that some people like them as a comfort and reminder not to do too much.
Mechanically, I’m not convinced that they do much more than make you think twice, (which is a valuable tool in our patient management), and the abdominal compression is more helpful than the lumbar support, as it mimics, (badly), the action of Transverse abdominus m.
If to be used as a preventative, get a bigger size so it can be worn over a t-shirt, sweatshirt - i.e., put it on for use, off when finished.
Better to get the patient to do Pilates/core stability work, but a ‘better-than-nothing’ substitute for those who can’t or won’t!
