| Description | |
|---|---|
| Indication [when to use] | Shoulder mobilisation following surgery or sporting injuries |
| How it works | Easily attached over a closed door by its ‘door anchor’, the patient uses their good hand to passively raise the injured limb. Especially useful for improving forward flexion, abduction and extension of the shoulder. Familiar to all physiotherapists |
| Does it work | Yes - It is a lightweight device used for passive or moderate active mobilisation of the shoulder. The pulley is not designed for heavy use, but will provide an excellent transitional device to get the user to the point when they can work more actively with resistance bands and light weights. For taller people, achieving more than 90degrees of forward flexion is difficult. Try kneeling to extend the range. |
| THM [therapist] verdict | Inexpensive and does what it claims. Comes with instruction leaflet, but this is a little sparse. |
| THM [user] verdict | May sound obvious but as it is used behind a closed door, pick a door that isn’t likely to be opened in use! |
| Cost | Typically£6.99 + VAT |
| Handedness | Universal. Can be used for either shoulder |
| Other comments | May sound obvious but as it is used behind a closed door, pick a door that isn’t likely to be opened in use! |

Review: A friend of mine recently injured his rotator cuff playing rugby and he used this product. He found it particularly helpful and it aided his recovering time well. Thanks for setting up this site to allow others to find out about products which can help injury recovery.
